When should I schedule my move?
We recommend contacting us as soon as you know your moving date and your drop-off location. In general, scheduling your moving appointment a month in advance is a good rule of thumb. This way you have higher chances of getting the date and time that you want, especially when it falls on Friday, Saturday or Sunday or end or beginning of the month, which are most popular moving dates in the industry. Change of plans? No worries. Being a customer-oriented company we do not charge rescheduling fees.
Is there an hourly minimum?
Yes, we do have a minimum amount of hours required for every job. We have a 3 hours minimum. When we go over we charge every 15 minutes.
How can I pay at the end of the move?
We accept all major credit/debit cards and cash. We do NOT accept money orders, personal or business checks – sorry.
Do you move pianos, pool tables or gun safes?
Unfortunately, we do not move pianos, pool tables and gun safes at this time. If you need one to be moved, we recommend hiring a professional "piano moving", "pool table moving" or "gun safes moving" company.
Do I need to rent any special equipment or buy supplies for my move?
No, since all our trucks are fully equipped, professionally packed and organized to accommodate moving jobs of any size. Our trucks carry 2-wheel dollies, 4-wheel dollies, blankets, tools, straps, ropes, wardrobe boxes, metal bars, and more.
What can I do for my move to be completed faster?
There are several things you can do to speed up your move. You can pack all your small items into a boxes and properly label all of your boxes specifying which box goes where (e.g. bedroom, living room, kitcen, etc.) Many people think a large box is for big heavy stuff, but the opposite is true. Fill large boxes with light stuff, and put heavy items, like books, in small boxes.
How much should I tip my movers?
SVLM's business owner, who used to be a mover himself before he found the company, offer our movers one of the highest compensation in the industry. Although tips are not mandatory, your movers would highly appreciate if you tip them according to a standard practice used in every service-based industry, i.e. 15%-20% of your total moving costs. This is one of the many ways to show your gratitude to our guys, who always try to go above and beyond to meet your expectations.
What happens if something gets damaged during my move?
We hire only professional and experienced movers, who undergo constant training under the supervision of the business owner, which helps them improve their skills and ensure professional growth. However, damage does occasionally happen in this industry. If this is the case, our basic moving insurance of $0.60 per pound per article is provided to every customer free of charge. Our team will do their best to resolve the issue to your satisfaction in a timely manner.
